Preparing for My First C.A.R. Legislative Day Experience

As a proud member of the Arcadia Association of REALTORS® and a participant in our Leadership Academy, I’ve been diving deep into learning how associations operate and more importantly, how they support agents, REALTORS®, and clients alike. It’s been eye-opening to understand the inner workings: from advocacy to community building, these efforts create stronger connections and better outcomes for everyone involved in real estate.

One thing I’ve especially come to appreciate is how much collaboration and communication matter. Through the Academy, I’ve been able to meet fellow agents, vendors, and partners who invest time and resources to make our events and initiatives successful. Building these relationships opens up new opportunities to better serve clients, share resources, and grow professionally.

Tomorrow I’ll be heading to Sacramento for C.A.R.'s Legislative Day  which is happening on April 30 and I couldn’t be more excited. Legislative Day brings together over 2,000 REALTORS® from across California to meet directly with state legislators. We’ll be there representing homeowners, advocating for policies that promote homeownership, protect property rights, and strengthen our industry.

Personally, I see Legislative Day not just as an opportunity to advocate, but as a chance to learn from fellow agents, industry leaders, and lawmakers. I’ll be taking extra time before and after the event to connect with other REALTORS®, share ideas, and find new ways to better support my clients back home.

This year is especially meaningful because it marks the 30th anniversary of the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, a key piece of legislation that has helped shape California’s housing market. I’m honored to be part of this moment, and to meet with leaders like Assemblymember Mike Fong, Senator Sasha Perez, and Assemblymember John Harabedian.

This trip is about more than just one event, it’s about being part of something bigger than ourselves. Real estate laws can have a profound impact on our communities, and I’m proud to do my part in protecting and promoting homeownership for all Californians.

I'll be in Sacramento April 29, 30, and May 1 for Legislative Day and related events: focused on networking, education, and advocacy. I'm excited to share what I learn along the way!
